Notable assignments and Works
Narrow Depth of Field
Much like wide, but an inverted concept.
Yep, you guessed it. Front objects in focus, and hind objects
without focus. I saw the perfect opportunity for this photo while in Digital File Preparation. My subjects were perfectly unaware, allowing me to quietly snatch this shot.

Who Am I?
The first assignment we did, a simple illustration of how each student defines themselves. Since I was five years old, I have ridden and raced motorcycles, and it is my dream to make a Land Speed Record on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Because of this quiet wish in my heart, my knowledge of mechanical processes, and my experience with these machines, I chose to photograph my BSA A65. However, the motorcycle is still a work in progress. In this way, we are alike.

Still Life
A still life piece must be an inanimate object. Some choose to get innovative with this classic subject, but I chose to lean more to the traditional piece of fruit. I peeled the apple partially, and staged it.
Strangely, this piece makes me think of a binary star system. The classic image of one star using the power of gravity to consume its neighbor spiraling to its end within the other.
Whatever you see in it, it is thus far my favorite.

Placid City Flowers
Often in this class, you may find yourself with photographic surplus. However, it should not be discarded. I like this photograph mostly because of the colors of the flowers, chain link, and squash plant vividly convey the chill morning beauty of city gardens.

Chestnut Tree
One of the last assignments of the term was to photograph one, or all of a row of on-campus chestnut trees, and choose the best shot. I am rather fond of this one because it shows the inside of the tree, a layer of soft, porcelain white. Combined with the texture of the tree bark, and the fall leaves against the blue sky, it made a lovely photograph. |
Tree in Autumn
Once again, for this assignment, I chose the beautiful on-campus trees as my subject. This particular tree is my favorite because of the Boston Ivy cradling the base of its trunk. The chestnut leaves begin to dry and yellow, but not completely, in early Autumn. Thus, the colors of the leaves contrast very nicely.
As an application of something I earned elsewhere, I know that odd numbers are very aesthetically pleasing. I have a total of nine leaves in the photo, and it came together really well.
